Eyre Lodge

This years festival is being held at Eyre Lodge, about 30 minutes northwest of Christchurch.  The venue borders on the Eyrewell State Forest and has 26 acres of space to enjoy yourself in. While I could go on and on about the lodge - it's best to go the the Eyre Lodge website if you're interested in learning more.

Facilities:

Cooking:  There is a main kitchen that will be off limits as this is being used for the catering, however there is a small kitchen that will be made available to overnight attendees if they wish to self cater.  Many of the dorms also have a kitchenette, although whether they have a kettle, for early morning coffees, is another story.

Bathing: There are multiple male and female shower/toilet facilities throughout the grounds.  In each building there are two blocks for each gender. In addition the main hall building has a toilet between the two lecture halls.

Outdoor Activities:  There are a number of outdoor activity areas if you're interested.  A confidence course, swimming pool, sports field and tennis court.  Additionally the grounds are extensive and there will always be someplace where you'll be able to find some quiet alone time if you feel like contemplating the universe.

Parking: The grounds are being landscaped so parking will only be in the specified areas (obviously not shown on the drawing to the right).  We'll have this signposted for attendees and Day Trippers.

Directions:

Driving directions below are from the Airport.

If you're coming from the Square in Christchurch, drive north up Colombo Street to Kilmore Street. It's a one way so turn left into it and drive til you reach the Kilmore/Victoria/Durham St intersection (it's got the Crown Plaza hotel on the corner). Take the diagonal road (Victoria Street).  Follow it to the end - it becomes Papanui Road after the Bealey Ave intersection.  Then just follow Papanui Road until the end and take the slightly right follow on that becomes Main North Road.  Keep driving on this road until you hit the motorway and take it from step 6 below.
